Mosaic sponsors books for Lehigh Valley Summerbridge program

Lehigh Valley advertising agency Mosaic has donated all of the Literature class novels for the 2015 Lehigh Valley Summerbridge (LVS) program curriculum.

LVS is a free educational enrichment program hosted by Moravian Academy for Lehigh Valley middle school students from low-income families. The curriculum is designed to help motivated students challenge themselves and prepare for their academic futures. Students accepted into LVS must earn their places by demonstrating a potential for high academic performance and will spend two years in the program.

Mosaic has long been a supporter of education in the Lehigh Valley. The agency is donating to LVS because the program provides unique opportunities for underprivileged local students to prepare for college. Students will be allowed to keep the books or donate them to the Cops ‘n’ Kids literacy program.

In its 22 years of operation, LVS has helped over 800 students. Summerbridge alumni have an excellent record of personal and academic achievement and many go on to be Summerbridge volunteers and teachers after completing the program.

This year, LVS graduate Giovanny Zapata was awarded a Gates Millenium Scholarship. The scholarship, which is only awarded to 1,000 United States students each year, will pay for his entire post high school education.

“Education is the most important foundation we can give our community,” said Mosaic president Matthew McKernan. “Mosaic believes in supporting the community and preparing children for successful futures in their academic careers and beyond.”
